{mellow curry flavored rice with pieces of tender fish throughout eaten with a warm boiled egg is so comforting it’s even good for breakfast}
It was the day super strength, one of my many powers, was debunked. One by one my, invisibility, x-ray vision, and flight were also disproven that year. But the first is always the hardest, and that fateful day ruminates still.
It ended badly, very badly. There were tears upon realizing I was unable to lift the full grown man over my head and launch him into outer space. Then public humiliation as I spun out of control frantic with denial, shattering into a thousand pieces both a store’s glass display case, and my fragile delusions of grandeur. Like I said, it ruminates.
Don’t worry about me though, I was resilient and still had a staggering paylaod of imaginary friends plus a teeny-tiny duplicate universe that lived inside my stomach with which to terrorize the neighborhood. That plus my extraordinary hoola hoop, pogo stick, and fashion design skills were adequate distractions against an unrealistic super hero obsession.

{flakey halibut filet baked with wine, fresh unfiltered olive oil, thinly sliced garlic, rosemary, and green olives blend together for mild and savory flavor}
My last trip to the farmer’s market yielded me a bottle of foggy, green, unfiltered olive oil. Eeew, you say? Au contraire, it is delicious and has the essence of what a juiced olive might. Oy that’s right matey, me blahrrgin!

{creamy and chewy all at once, this was excellent served warm or chilled, slurp}
I think I’ve expressed my love for puddings here before. Cold, creamy, and mildly sweet, I’ll take just about any flavor you give me. Pistachio, chocolate, butterscotch, right this way please. But my favorite has always been tapioca. Those little pearls of chewy gel throughout the custard, just something about them, are welcome here any day of the week.

{dark chocolate ganache, a golden buttery crust, and candycane dust are the beginning layers of this rich minty tart, yum!}
{each bite of this roasted zucchini, feta, avocado, and red onion salsa bursts with flavor as the juicy pomegranite pops in your mouth!}
The thing I look most forward too each year is spending Christmas in Atlanta. It’s a whirlwind impossibly packed into a couple days, but going home for the holidays is like being wrapped in a warm blanket and I just love it. There’s always lots of excellent food, trash talking games of scrabble, incredible wine, gift giving, and family fun. Here are two recipes that barely chip away at some of the delicious things we ate over Christmas weekend, one savory and one sweet.
